Abstract: We are going to talk on representation theory of finite groups, especially on modular representation theory due to Richard Brauer (1901--1977) in the last several decades. More precisely by starting off kind of history of representation theory and then hopefully we would like to reach to recent big results on some of the local-global conjectures originally due to Brauer. This is sort of general talk, so almost no advanced knowledge should be needed except the definitions of groups, rings, fields, and matrices.
